SUMMARY:  Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities.   

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Supervises students as directed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or its equivalent.  Some special training and experience working with children is desirable.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral or written form.  Ability to apply common sense/problem solving skills when dealing with students, teachers, administrators and other school personnel.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, administrators and other school personnel.  Ability to deal effectively with confidential matters.  Ability to follow directions.  Ability to work as part of a team.  Ability to deal with flexible scheduling.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel, bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull as well as perform a variety of similar body movements. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.  The employee must have the ability to talk and hear in person, by telephone and the ability to listen and interpret sounds of students.
